What is prototyping?

Will my potential clients really like my product/service? Does it fulfil their

specific needs? How can a digital entrepreneur overcome these uncertainties

and validate the business idea?

Well, through prototyping. But what is a prototype?

“A prototype is an early sample, model, or release of a product built to test a
concept or process or to act as a thing to be replicated or learned from”.

Typically, a prototype is used to evaluate the design of a new product or

service before that product or service enters the market, so that the

entrepreneur is 100% sure that it works and serves a real market need.

It is the step between the business idea phase (see Module 6 – Innovation

management & business ideation) and the evaluation of that idea by putting

an early version of the solution, i.e., a minimum viable product (MVP) in
front of real users and collecting feedback as quickly as possible.
